Trashed Hotels
Sometimes you gotta be a rock star.....
So, there I was.
I've stayed in countless hotels in my life. Some good, some, well, lets just say iffy.
The one I was at this past weekend was really nice. Good bed, nice pillows etc. And I treated it as I do any hotel, very respectful.
Then I went to take a shower before I had to speak that evening, and again did as I always do to get into the shower. Now for those of you who don't stay in many hotels, the toilet is usually right nest to the tub, therefore giving me the perfect transfer station for my stump once I remove my leg. The process goes something like this.
Remove leg and liner.
Place knee of stump on toilet lid.
Swing real leg into shower stand up.
Shower
Repeat process in reverse.
Pretty simple, and I've done this many times in EVERY hotel I stay in.
This Saturday though was to be different.
It was the weekend of breakage.
I dropped my phone and cracked the screen so now it looks really strange and I have to squint at emails more then I used to.
And as I did the shower process, and my knee settled onto the toilet lid, and I was lifting the real leg into the shower, a loud crack sounded and the lid broke, with me on it, dropping my knee through a hole and cutting my stump. As I picked the pieces out of the toilet and cleaned my knee cuts I was trying to figure out if they would charge me for the lid.
After the shower, I made the very odd call to the front desk.
Now, IM not saying Im funny, but there is something very funny about explaining to the front desk how your stump broke the toilet seat, and how, No, I really don't want a new room. Just a new seat will be fine.
In the end, it was really all funny, and the talks went great this weekend. People were great, and I saw God moving in so many stories I heard between services.
Have a great day.
